Is rice water good for skin?

The increase in pollution not only affects your hair, skin but your overall health. During this pandemic, many people have opted for natural things whether for our immunity or for our skin or hair. And it is good if you're among those. Going natural has nil to minimal risk of side effects. And this time, I bring to you an underrated kitchen ingredient which is rice water.

When I was little, my mother used to make us drink that tasteless rice water telling us that it has so many benefits for us. And I was definitely not bothered about that but once I grew, I could myself realize the numerous benefits of rice water.

Rice water is a natural, economic and simple ingredient that can be transformed into a value-added skincare product.

Rice has compounds which have the potential to inhibit the enzymes related to type 2 diabetes and obesity. Rice contain inositol which helps with the body's metabolism and decreases cholesterol. Inositol has known anti-ageing properties too. It was found in a research that inositol improved skin moisture, skin elasticity and decreased wrinkles. In another research on alopecia, it was also found that rice water increases the hair density and the diameter of the hair.

Cosmetic products containing rice compounds like face wash, creams and rice face sheet masks are so common these days. This shows the significance of rice in the cosmetic industry. If you really do not want to spend on these high range products then you can take benefits of rice compounds at home only.

How can you prepare rice water?

Basically, there are two ways:

1} Rice water by boiling rice.

2} Rice water rinse- by soaking the rice in water for 2 to 3 hours and then filtering that water.

How to use rice water?

Rice water for digestion:

Drink the water you get after boiling rice for improving digestion. You can add salt to taste.

Rice water for skin:
